It's Party Time!

I'm a little late on blogging about it, but March 26th was
Willie's 27th Birthday!
We kicked off his birthday the weekend before with his Mom and Nelson, and Sarah and her BF Tyce. We did a 5k walk for Walk for Wishes in Cary. The weather was WONDERFUL! We ended the weekend with a nice dinner at Shucker's Oyster Bar in Wake Forest - and watched UNC lose! We really aren't sports fans, but its was nice to have all 3 local colleges in the ACC Tournament.

Monday was Willies actual Birthday and I wanted to do something special!
It was a big deal, it was his first one as a Daddy! We celebrated with family and friends on Monday night at our house with pizza and cupcakes!

Here are a few pictures from the night!

Molly helping Daddy blow out ALL those candles!

Wyatt really enjoyed a chocolate cupcake in his Dino PJ's!
Look at that mess on the chair! And Floor! And HIM!

SJJB with Molly Anne!

We had a fun filled weekend and birthday celebration!
Thanks to everyone who came out to party!

Yum Yum Yum

We were told at Molly's 4 month check up that we could start her on solids.
Dr Hewett said that there are new studies out about allergies, and that most people are waiting too long to introduce new things. He told us to try new things all the time. This was crazy talk to me, because we've all been told to feed babies the same food a few days in a row when introducing, etc. He also so we do not have to start with cereal! OK!

Off I go to the grocery store that night to pick out different foods and cereal.
I decided to go for a good assortment of fruits and veggies, and also a box of Gerber oatmeal cereal. The next morning between bottles I decided to give solids a try. I strapped Molly in the highchair and here we go!

She was really confused by the texture at first. Sometimes she opens her mouth on her own, other times we sing her a song or something for her to open her mouth! She still makes funny faces, and blows bubbles on the spoon.  I think some does make it into her belly. The rest however, is all over her and her bib!

First day we started with Oatmeal Cereal and Sweet Potatoes. Since then, she has had peaches and bananas. Tonight we are introducing GREEN BEANS!! We will see how well that goes over.

Why am I in this seat Momma?!

 First taste!

What is this stuff?

It's Daddy's turn at dinnertime!!
Give me more!

This cereal makes me bored!

You actually have to open your mouth for the food to go in!

Our little girl is growing up!

I can hardly believe that a little over four months ago, we met our little darling Molly! She has been the center of attention-- and time has flown by! I cannot think of a better way to spend my day, than taking care of her.

Sweet Molly Anne
4 Month Check up - March 15, 2012
Dr. Allen Hewett

You weigh 15 lbs 5 ounces and are in the 85th percentile
You are 90th percentile for length (who did that come from?)
and 65th percentile for head circumference
You are currently eating 6-7 ounces every 3-4 hours
You still don't like to go to bed very early (10pm)
But you sleep ALL night long (7-8am)

After your appointment we stopped by Two Old Birds to visit with Mimi, Grandaddy, Aunt Robin, and your cousins Cooper & Wyatt.
We headed home shortly after because you were getting a bit fussy and it was time for a nap. I gave you a little Tylenol since we were a bit fussier than usual. Probably just from the shots. :-(

Here you are once you finally fell asleep...

I'm loving this warm weather and so are you! You have an entire new wardrobe and you love to have your feet exposed!
I decided to paint your toe nails! It's so fun having a
little baby doll to play dress up with!

You still are very stubborn when it comes to turning over.
I will lay you down on your belly and you lift your head up really high!
You laugh for a while and look all around-- but you still get very frustrated!
I eventually flip you back over once you start getting really fussy.

Every night at bedtime we lay you on your back, but you instantly flip to your side. You wiggle ALL over the crib! It's hilarious to watch you on the baby monitor. Every time I wake up in the middle of the night to check on you, you're in a different place in the crib! We had to get you breathable bumpers to put up once you decided to keep sticking your feet through the railings of the crib!

Molly you LOVE to laugh!
Daddy always makes silly faces and you laugh, laugh, laugh!
You light up when someone walks into the room, and
you are SUPER nosey!
You even stop while eating to turn your head around to see who is talking... it's sooooo funny!

I knew I loved you before I met you--- but I love you more than I ever imagined! You are my favorite part of everyday! We realize more and more each day how blessed we are to have you as our little girl.

All the way from ALASKA

Visiting with family is a little tougher now that Nina, Nick and Ty live alllllll the way in Alaska. So, with new babies in the family - we want to see each other as much as possible. So, we've come up with a plan that we all hope we can stick with. A yearly trip for them to come to NC and a yearly trip for us to Alaska. So far, we've been successful. The Watson's came for a visit last week, and we have already booked our flights to Alaska for July!

I don't have a ton of pictures on my phone,
but here are a few from their visit.

Ty and Molly with Grandpa Dave!

Ty eating with Molly's Diva bib! HILARIOUS!

Ty checking in on his cousin Molly... so sweet!

Here are a few pictures take by Nan at PS Studio  in Chapel Hill!
The babies were SOOOO good.

I was a little worried that they would have been like this for the entire shoot!

This was the last picture taken!

Instead they were cute, cuddly and sweet as could be!
SEE!

Molly's eyes make me laugh!!

One of my favorites! I love baby feet!

Baby Weight

This baby weight isn't going anywhere as long as I keep making these crazy recipes I've found on Pinterest!

I've made cookies, muffins, soups and MORE!
Maybe I should turn my focus to all of the crafts I've pinned instead!

I am seriously getting sick of myself. I feel as if I need a makeover!

Any takers?

A few things to I've tried:

I've made these scrumptious muffins!

and

These delicious homemade Pop Tarts!

With all of these yummy ideas, how is a girl suppose to lose the weight!?

Hopefully I will start pinning a few healthy alternatives and taste test these divine treats a little less often! My current excuse is that I couldn't have it while I was pregnant due to the gestational diabetes!

Excuses! Excuses!

It's time to get my act together!

My inspiration is in this sneak peek pic from the photo shoot

Sick of Sick!

I've heard it my entire life... "when you have child, it will be the hardest thing you've ever done."

You never really know until it happens to you! Molly has been sick this past week. It all started last Tuesday. Willie's sister Nina, her husband Nick, and their 7 month old Ty were visiting ALL the way from Alaska. I had noticed that Molly was sleeping a little bit "harder" than normal. She also has been sleeping through the night since she was about 1 month old, but Monday night, she was waking up at least every hour just crying. Her eyes were closed! I would rock her and she'd fall back to sleep. An hour later, same thing... over and over and over again.

Needless to say, since we have been so spoiled with sleep for so long, this interrupted sleep was like a smack in the face! I was a zombie on Tuesday morning. We had plans to have cousin pictures taken (future post to come) at 11 that morning. I was getting Molly dressed when I noticed she felt a bit warm, so I decided to take her temp. It was 100.5, but worried me regardless. A newborn to 3 month old with a temp at 100.4+ should be seen by a doctor. I called the nurses hot line (the best thing ever) through our pediatricians office, and left a message. They call back within one hour with answers. She told us to give her 0.8 mls of Tylenol and watch the temp, and to make an appointment if it reaches 102 or has one for 3 days. To make a LONG story short-ish, against my better judgement we traveled to Elizabeth City to visit with family. Day 3 arrived, and Molly still had a fever. They ranged from 100.5-101.6 for those few days. I contacted a few friends that have children in Elizabeth City for pediatrician suggestions. I was able to get an appointment at Coastal Peds at 3:30. After a long wait (the place was packed) we were taken to the back for our visit. Dr. Hudson, a pediatrician Willie and I have known since we were kids was the doctor! It was a relief to see a familiar face considering we weren't at Molly's regular pediatricians office! After a urine analysis and a culture, it was verified that Molly had a UTI.

MY POOR BABY!!

We also learned that we were giving her the incorrect dose of Tylenol, too little not too much. Apparently Tylenol has recently changed its concentration so the dosage has changed. With was her weight (checked at two month check up) she could have had 1.25 mls compared to the 0.8 we were giving her. But with her new weight - checked at appointment at a whopping 14 lbs 7 ounces, she could have been taking 2.5 mls. That's a big difference from what we were giving her! No wonder her temp wasn't going down! To top it off she also has a virus/cold of some sort. A nasty cough with a runny/congested nose.

With the antibiotic and the correct dosage of Tylenol, the fever was gone within the first 12 hours! She has to be on the antibiotic for 10 days, so she is currently taking that twice a day.

For a few days she was hoarse from the cough. She would cry a silent cry and it would BREAK MY HEART!!! I seriously teared up every time she would cry. I just can't imagine how uncomfortable she must feel being so little!!!

I would rather be sick a zillion times more just so she wouldn't have to!

We have an ultrasound scheduled for her tomorrow (Thursday) to check out her anatomy. They want to rule out that its an anatomical thing that caused the infection. We will see how it goes!

Here are a few pics of my sick girl :-(

She was a sleepy girl! Look at those cheeks!

She was still in overall good spirits!

Still a smiley girl!

Shut Your Mouth Caramel Pie!

So my new obsession, along with everyone else, is PINTEREST.
I find myself on it whenever I have a moment of free time. Between laundry, dishes, feedings and diaper changes, pinterest is my break!
I think I've gained weight since having Molly because of all the
wonderfully awesome recipes I've found.

Do you know how to make caramel with ONE ingredient? Yes, only ONE!
You simply take a can of sweetened condensed milk, take off the label and sit the can on its side into a pot, fill pot with water and make sure it covers the can completely. Boil the can for 3 hours rotating on its side every 30 minutes. Make sure there is water covering cans at all time. After the 3 hours, remove can and let cool for atleast 1 hour before opening. And Viola! You've got caramel!

I decided since now that I know how to make caramel, I would mimic the Ooey Gooey Caramel Pie from O'Charley's that is soooo yummy!

What you need: A store bought Graham Cracker Pie Crust, 1 Tub of Cool Whip, 2 cans of Sweetened Condensed Milk (make into caramel), chopped pecans, and chocolate to make into shavings or mini chips.

Once you have boiled the milk cans, let cool for atleast 1 hour. Open cans and pour into pie crust. Refridgerate until cool. Top caramel with the cool whip, top with pecans and chocolate shavings. See pictures below!

And just think, this only has 100 caleries per slice!

JUST KIDDING! I wish.

I was so amazed when I opened the cans!

The finished product

My slice of pie, it was DELICIOUS!
